- Abstract
The article discusses the international law concepts of necessity, proportionality, and the right of self-defense as of June 2013, focusing on the justification of self-defense in relation to incidents involving military provocation such as the 2010 explosion of the Cheonan Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy vessel. According to the article, a multinational investigation team determined that the Cheonan ship was sunk by a torpedo fired from a North Korean submarine.
