The article discusses the studies on microbial communities that helped in the bioremediation of the Deepwater Horizon (DWH) oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010. Topics discussed include hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria succession, metatranscriptomic and metagenomic analyses of Oceanospirallales and genomic analysis of Oleispira antartica.
