Title
Grades 4-6: Pass the Energy.
Abstract
The article presents a student activity, in which students of grades 4-6 are made to study owl pellets, so that they can know about the food eaten by owls. In the activity, students are told that owl pellets are the undigested remains of food eaten by owls that are regurgitated as a compact mass of hair, feathers, teeth, bones, claws, bird beaks, and insect remains. Students are made to separate the bones from the fur or feathers, and given bone charts to determine what the owls ate.
