- Title
How the Fixed-term Parliaments Act Changes UK Politics.
- Authors
Schleiter, Petra
- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the Fixed-term Parliaments Act (2011) to British politics, which eliminated the need for the prime minister to request parliamentary dissolution from the Monarch and allows early elections given that government is defeated in a vote of no-confidence and two-thrids of the House of Commons agreed to early elections. Topics discussed include changes brought by the Act to the relationship between executive and legislative and its impact on majoritarianism.
