- Abstract
The article discusses the changing methods and technology for helping researchers study public opinion. The author also discusses the evolution of public opinion and its place in democratic government. Contemporary technologies examined in the article include web-based surveys and digitized interviewing. The author explains how these technologies have increased the opportunities for scholars to conduct primary data collection in their survey research. How the editors of "Public Opinion Quarterly" plan to maintain the appeal of the journal to scholars is also discussed.
