- Abstract
A literary criticism of the autobiographies "Under My Skin," "Walking in the Shade" and "Alfred and Emily," by Doris Lessing and Alison Bechdel's "Fun Home" memoir is presented. Topics included are the spiritual biographies of Saint Teresa of Avila and Saint Augustine, the conception of empathy explained by Peter Goldie in his book "The Emotions: A Philosophical Exploration," and the identification of narrative distinctions of fiction by Paul John Eakin.
