- Title
A Story of the Exceptional: Fate and Free Will in the Harry Potter Series.
- Authors
Pond, Julia
- Abstract
The article examines the relationship between fate and free will as depicted in several instances in the "Harry Potter" series. The author opines that the series encourages readers to accept destiny but strive to achieve the maximum potential offered by circumstances. She also posits that while choices and decisions made by the characters demonstrate free will, magical tools and prophecies illustrate the power of fate. The theory espoused by Friedrich Nietzsche regarding the balance between fate and free will is also discussed.
