- Title
RNA editing: when what you se(quence) isn't what you get.
- Authors
Brunstein, John
- Abstract
The article discusses the inconsistent reflection of the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) sequence after translation and processing with the ribonucleic acid (RNA) sequence that gets to the ribosome and directs production of a protein. It states that the RNA editing process might play a part in tumor biology, contribute to enhanced tumor cell survival rates, and correlate with decreased sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents. Also noted are the edited sites' value as biomarkers in oncology therapy.
