- Abstract
This article provides information pertaining to the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD). Based on computer-generated, self-reported data from 75% of the members of AMCD, the following profile can be drawn. The majority of AMCD members are female, and the largest proportion by race is White, followed by African American, Hispanic or Latino, Asian American, American Indian and other. By highest academic degree earned, 59% hold master's degrees, 26% doctorates, 11% bachelor's degrees, and 4% other degrees. By occupational position, the largest proportion of AMCD members is composed of counselors, followed by students, counselor educators, administrators, supervisors and consultants, and student development workers. The remaining 10% are persons who checked other. As of membership by work setting indicates the following distribution: college and university; private practice; elementary-middle school; secondary-high school; community agency; mental health center; community college; and state, local, or federal government. Percentages for the remaining work setting categories were negligible.
