- Abstract
Both the United States and the United Kingdom have regulations on the practice of minor children's abortion, separated from exercising parental responsibility. In Taiwan, unmarried minors must obtain the consent of their legal representatives to perform abortions before 2023. However, under the new Civil Code, the age of majority has dropped to 18; the Ministry of Health and Welfare proposed in 2022 that if the legal representative disagrees, it must be submitted to the court for adjudication as soon as possible. How to strike a proper balance between exercising parental responsibility and the abortion decision of minor children is worthy of discussion.
