- Abstract
Ethiopian Airlines has secured a $450 million loan agreement to finance the purchase of five new Boeing aircraft. The loan, arranged by Citi's Corporate Banking and Export Agency and Finance teams, is guaranteed by the Export-Import Bank of the United States. The new aircraft will help Ethiopian Airlines expand its fleet and serve all its destinations, while also strengthening its cargo network. In addition, Kenya Airways has received the first of two Boeing 737-800SF freighters from GA Telesis, which will support the airline's cargo strategy. Rwanda has launched a Centre of Excellence for Aviation Skills to build local capacity and meet industry demand in the aviation sector. TAAG - Linhas Aéreas de Angola - has started air freight operations using a Boeing 737-800CF cargo aircraft, and Mauritius has inaugurated an air strip and jetty on the island of Agalega. Finally, Nigeria's National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure and Caverton Offshore Support Group have signed an agreement to establish a drone assembly plant, a drone training school, and a service center for helicopters in the country.
