- Abstract
Frequently associated with the riches, memorial and heritage policies are a way to analyze relations between social classes. The lower classes have a much more limited capacity for appropriating their spaces. This is the case for the working class, whose majority of places of life and work has disappeared, and whose memory rarely make heritage. Faced with this difficulty of anchoring their memories in space and materiality of the places, the dominated ones can engage in alternative memory and heritage practices. This is the case of the former glassmakers of Givors, who have started a fight for the recognition of their occupational diseases, a fight that use the materiality and spatiality of their collective memory, through the mobilization of an industrial heritage.
