- Title
Nebraska Memories: The Barrio Boys of Scottsbluff.
- Authors
Ramírez, Marty; Cantú, Norma E.
- Abstract
A reflective essay on the experience of five Chicano boys growing up in Nebraska: includes musings on the vibrancy of a semi-rural community, references to sports tournaments, school and church, gamblers, and a corrupt sheriff. The author documents the bonds among the group of friends, remembers childhood and adolescence fondly, discusses struggles and achievements, and how this generation from the Mexican side of a small Nebraska town learned to move through their world, from the 1940s to the present, and the passing of one member.
