- Abstract
The article focuses on the power struggle in the political affairs of Thailand relative to its effort to curtail political corruption and establish a concrete government accountability system. It cites the 1991 military takeover of the government of Prime Minister Chatichai Choonhaven, which according to analysts is just another chapter of the country's civil-military power struggle. Moreover, it discusses the role of the military in the running of the country's government which is reflected on several coup it maneuvered to bring democracy to the country. Furthermore, it cites the emergence of political parties supported by the middle-class who has lost trust on the traditional military-bureaucratic power centers.
