- Abstract
In this paper, superhydrophobic surface of the hot-dip galvanized steel (HDGS) was prepared by a simple, low-cost, and environment-friendly method. The structural, compositional, and morphological properties of the HDGS samples were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and static water contact angles (CAs), potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and salt spray test were conducted to evaluate the hydrophobicity and corrosion resistance, respectively. The results showed that the proposed method did not introduce any coating impurities, and superhydrophobic HDGS surfaces were fabricated after the simple three-step rapid reaction due to micro-nano rough structures and the modification of lauric acid. The superhydrophobic surfaces displayed good corrosion resistance, which can effectively reduce the probability of red rust on the HDGS surface and extend their service life in industrial application.
