- Abstract
Time-Domain Reflectometry (TDR) or time-domain reflectometry is one of the techniques used to measure soil moisture, so if you need to calibrate the device to have the correctness and accuracy of the measures to be taken accomplished. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate TDR probe calibration and performance of models for determining moisture in a yellow Ultisol in the North of Espírito Santo at two depths and sample types. Two methodologies were followed: the manufacturer of TDR-ML3 and the one used by Coelho et al. (2006), so the present work was used only present in the north of Espirito Santo, the Yellow Argisol in deformed and undisturbed samples, in the depth of 0-20 and 20-50 cm. It was concluded that the use of undisturbed samples for calibration of the equipment is the most suitable for laboratory conditions, the depth that presented the best performance was 0-20 cm and the calibration model that presented the best results of the determination coefficient was the of Ledieu et al. (1986), being among the others, the most suitable for calibration, in order to have greater accuracy in the measurements performed with soil from the North of Espírito Santo.
