- Abstract
The Jatropha is one of the oil plants that are being studied in the face of the need to replace petroleum by biofuels, which does not pollute the environment and are renewable sources of energy. However, for the plant to produce satisfactorily it is necessary to know about the nutritional need of the species still little known. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of different doses of organic and phosphate fertilization on the period of inflorescences appearance, number of fruits plant-1 and maturation of bunches of jatropha fruits. The experiment was conducted at the Federal University of Campina Grande, Brazil, with potted plants in the open air, using a randomized complete block design. The treatments were the 4 x 4 factorial combination, with 4 replicates, whose factors were doses 0; 4; 6 and 8 t ha-1 of bovine manure and 0; 90; 135 and 180 kg ha-1 of superphosphate. According to the results, only the organic fertilization influenced the analyzed variables; the 6.5 t ha-1 dose of bovine manure promoted the flowering of plants in a shorter time period after fertilization and the dose of 7.6 t ha-1 promoted the highest number of fruits plant-1 observed in this experiment. However, the applications of cattle manure did not diminish the maturing period of the bunches of jatroph fruits.
