- Abstract
This paper discusses about the SLU2000 inquiry courses program, created by Saint Louis University in the end of the year 2000. The program features courses designed to fulfill general education or "core" requirements, aimed at freshman and sophomore students, taught by full-time faculty, and composed of small numbers, typically no more than 19 students per section. They are based on the premise that student learning is optimized when students are actively engaged in learning in a collaborative environment. Evaluation of the courses to assess whether the objectives were being achieved was an integral component from the inception of the program.
