- Abstract
A biography for former South African President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela is presented. He was born in 1918 in South Africa and belonged to the Thembu royalty he attended Methodist mission schools and University College of Fort Hare. Mandela's exposure to poverty and brutality of blacks is noted. He was influenced by political activists Gaur Radebe, Walter Sisulu, and Anton Lembede. Mandela joined the African National Congress (ANC) in 1944. and fought against apartheid.
