- Abstract
This article presents the development process of a competency model that intends to foster research-based knowledge utilization. This co-development process is aimed at identifying the necessary competencies for school practitioners to use researchbased knowledge in their practice. An analysis contextualizing the process within the scientific literature on competency modelling allows an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of this development process. Specifically, this analysis shows that the great strengths of the process are that it took into account the organizational context and that it described not only what is but also what should be. Also, the process led to the production of a user-friendly competency model. However, the analysis also showed that the process did not lead to the development of a performance criteria.
