The author discusses the need to reduce the growth of energy consumption and the policy maker should use tools including renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy conservation in the U.S. Topics discussed include a case study of the U.S. Energy Policy Act (EPA) of 2005 related to promote renewable energy; the need to carbon capture technology in new coal-fired plants; and political problems faced by the EPA.
