- Abstract
The aim of the study was to identify the occurrence of overweight, obesity and low physical activity levels in students and possible associations between them considering socioeconomic status, gender and age. The study was conducted with 176 students (105 girls) 14-18 years old of Passo Fundo/RS. The sample was selected randomly. Daily physical activity was assessed by the number of steps. Overweight and obesity were considered from the body mass index (BMI). For data analyzes we used frequency calculations, relative and absolute, means, standard deviations and binary logistic regression. For the analyzes was considered a 95% confidence interval. Approximately 24% of boys and girls are overweight and 8.8% and 6.9% respectively are obese. Regarding daily physical activity, 65.2% of boys and 63.8% of girls do not meet the recommendations. There weren't associations between overweight and obesity with daily physical activity in students, even after taking into consideration gender, age and socioeconomic status in the analyzes.
