- Abstract
The pennation angle is related to intrinsic factors of the athlete, such as sex, age and race, but in turn, it is known that it can undergo changes due to other factors, such as strength training or inactivity. The primary aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the pennation angle of the gastrocnemius muscle and quickness in female college sprinters. Fourteen female college athletes from Helwan and Aswan University teams (100- and 200-m sprint), participated in this study. All participants were fully informed about the aims of the study and gave their voluntary consent before participation. The measurement procedures agreed with the ethics of human experimentation. The results showed high positive correlations between the pennation angle of the gastrocnemius muscle and quickness (reaction time and acceleration) in female college sprinters.
