- Authors
Brandzel, Amy L.
- Abstract
The article reflects on the role of women's history in the field of women's studies. The author suggests that scholars should carefully examine the way in which the intellectual history is portrayed in curricula, syllabi, and course readers for women's studies programs. According to the author, feminism as depicted in the required content for many women's studies degree programs is centered on the citizenship and subjectivity of white women. Other topics include writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman, antislavery activist Sojourner Truth, and imperialism.
