- Abstract
Introduction: Vitiligo is a idiopathic skin disease which is characterised by white spots of different forms and sizes, with a tendency to be increased in size in a centrifugal way.Adults and children of both genders are affected equally , but such studies show a slight prevalence of more cases in females, probably due to negative psycho-social consequences caused by this skin disease cannot be considered statistically important , because some studies suggest equal norms for both genders. Starting place and distribution of vitiligo lesion in the skin differ according to the age and the region of population which have been studied, but the most affected body parts are respectively, head, arms and trunk and parts which are less affected are the mucosal parts. .According to WHO (World Health Organization), quality of life (QL) is defined as a perception of individuals, values and life position in the context of cultural systems in which they live in relation to their purposes, hopes, concerns and standards they should have , vitiligo has a negative impact for quality of life of individuals affected16 Objective:Aim of this research study about Vitiligo is to collect sufficient information about the quality of life for the individuals affected from Vitiligo in region Tirana Albania . Specific objectives:a) Description of affected individuals from Vitligo, part of this research study, according to the age and gender.b) Description of affected individuals according to their socio-demographic features (education level, living place ). c) Description affected individuals according to the perception of quality of life. d) Defining the relation that exist between group age and socio-demographic (education , living place), with perception of the quality of life from the individuals part of this study. Method:1758 individuals who come in Military Hospital Tirane, Albania in Dermatolgy Service in period October 2014 - March 2015 was examined having or not Vitiligo. 39 Cases with Vitiligo were diagnose through the physical standard examination using the Wood lamp too. In these 39 patients diagnosis with Vitiligo were applied questionnaires which consisted in two parts: a) Defining of group age, gender and social demographic features (education , living place), for the subjects affected from Vitiligo. b) Defining of dermatologic quality of life index. Results:Females have a high prevalence of Vitiligo (excluding age group 55-64 years old). Highest prevalence for females is noticed in age groups 45-54 years old , followed from the age group 15-24 years old and the age group 25-34 years old Meanwhile males with the highest prevalence are noticed in the age groups 55-64 years old and 0-14 years old .it was noticed that gender was influential in the degree of concern that brings Vitiligo (p=0.01,) and in the degree of embarrassed and anxiety caused from Vitiligo (p=0.01), where the most significant category resulted females.age group influenced to the impact of dermatological life quality of individuals affected from Vitiligo, resulted that age group was determinant in the skin disease (vitiligo) impact on social activities (p=0.007), in the skin disease impact for the selection of clothes (p=0.007), in problems with relatives as the result of skin disease states (p=0.007) and in problems level caused from the skin disease treatment (p=0.000). Categories which are more sensitive from skin disease ( vitiligo) are the age groups 15-24 and 25-34, where subjects which belong to these age groups categories represent the highest percentage of the persons who have concerns as the result of the skin disaese states.residence feature is determinant for the concerns level as the result of skin disease states (p=0.01), skin disease impact level on social activities (p=0.026), sexual difficulties level as the result of skin disease states (p=0.0047) . Category which is more sensitive toward the ski.
