The article focuses on a study on Dickcissels and crop damage in Venezuela by defining the problem with ecological models. Topics discussed include decline in Spiza americana bird due to overwinter mortality; using demographic, physiological, and ecological data to develop descriptive models to understand crop damage by Dickcissel; and small proportions of Venezuela's rice and sorghum production consumed by Dickcissels.
