- Abstract
The article examines the concepts of history and nationhood in English romantic poet William Wordsworth's historical poem "White Doe of Rylstone." It discusses Samuel Taylor Coleridge's comments on the tendency of the historical poem to emphasize inward rather then outward interest. A comparison of the works of Wordsworth and Sir Walter Scott in terms of their historical contexts is presented. The article also examines how the essence of national feeling is depicted in Wordsworth's historical poem.
