The article discusses the role of Austrian art historian Josef Strzygowski in promoting the study of Jewish art at the Vienna School of Art History. Topics discussed include the character of Strzygowski's anti-Semitism and race-based approach to art history, his relationship with Jewish students, and the works of his Jewish students Max Eisler, Otto Schneid, Paul Koeser and Fritzi Nobl-Stern.
