- Abstract
Dimensioning of CFRP reinforced wooden scantlings for window profiles With this essay, a design concept for CFRP‐reinforced wooden scantlings for window profiles is presented and developed. As a result of the increased costs for wood and building materials as well as the increasing creative and architectural requirements for filigree construction of window constructions, it is necessary to reduce or decrease the cross sections of window profiles and to keep them as narrow as possible. A good way to do this is to use laminated, composite wood cross‐sections that can be reinforced using CFRP slats. In this way, a high loadbearing capacity can be achieved with a narrow or small cross‐sectional dimension of the window profiles at the same time. Based on generally recognized calculation approaches, a conservative design method is presented below, which can depict the loadbearing capacity of the composite cross‐section.
