- Abstract
The article focuses on phenol burn, which is also considered as one of the occupational diseases. Phenol is one of the chemicals used in industries that also contribute occupational injuries. It states that exposure to phenol said to be painless on initial contact which then penetrates the skin and causes discoloration and severe chemical burn. It mentions the signs of systemic toxicity caused by phenol including hemolytic anemia, vomiting, and arrhythmia. First aid measures are mentioned including mouth-to-mouth respiration if necessary and use of gloves and googles for the care giver.
