- Abstract
The article examines the British response to the North-West Frontier and the crisis of Empire and why a forward policy of military occupation in Waziristan, Pakistan prevailed. It mentions that the British and Indian officer corps believed that the Frontier should be the exception to the trend because they were able to exercise independence in the era. Moreover, the new policy in Waziristan which represents general trend towards devolution of power in the post-war period is also discussed.
