- Abstract
The efficient handling of wastewater pollutants is a must, since they are continuously defiling limited fresh water resources. A simple approach was developed to prepare nanocomposite membranes for water purification. Microscale flow in a membrane is studied, the membrane consists of aramid nanofibers and cellulose nanocrystals via layer-by-layer technique. Surface morphology, surface wettability, and filtration performance are experimentally studied to elucidate the basic microfluid properties. The effect of the thickness for filtration efficiency is theoretically analyzed, and the paper concludes that the membrane is extremely effect to remove nanoparticles with 98.1 % filtration efficiency. Importantly, this approach could also be applied to fabricate many other hybrid Nanocomposite membranes, which may serve in a broad range of scientific and engineering applications, including water purification, energy conversion and storage, and so on.
