- Abstract
This paper is a personal illness narrative that uses a narrative analysis approach to tell of my experiences with depression and loss of self. It is a reflexive account of the disruption of my identity and asks who I become once diagnosed. My goal is to contextualize for the reader how it has been for me over the past several years living with severe migraines symptomatic of depression. Then, at the end of the narrative, I provide an analysis that connects the essay to health communication theory and the physician-patient relationship.
