- Abstract
The article discusses the perspective of U.S. President Barack Obama concerning the hip-hop culture in the country. As he addresses during his television interview in January 2008, Obama states that he love the art of hip-hop but not the message that hip-hop delivers to the people. It notes that he was cautious about embracing the culture wholeheartedly, offering thoughtful critiques of the negative stereotyping of women as well as the militarism that have come to dominate its music. However, hip-hop had its back throughout the presidential campaign even though its message to Obama was sometimes mixed.
