- Authors
Houston, C. Stuart
- Abstract
The article offers the author's insights on the late Canadian researcher Gary Bortolotti, who died on July 3, 2011, and the synchronicity of several events which explains Bortolotti's influence on the lives of others. He mentions that Bortolotti has received the first Stuart and Mary Houston Professorship in Ornithology from the University of Saskatchewan on November 20, 2002. He states that Bortolotti has inaugurated the Stuart Houston Book Prize in Ornithology in February 1998 which was designed to recognize the outstanding academic achievement of undergraduate ornithology students. He also adds that Bortolotti has directed a portion of the professorship funds each year to provide a half-time employment to retried dairy farmer Marten J. Stoffel.
