- Abstract
This article reports results of a survey of various qualitative researchers intended to determine what proportion of these qualitative researchers are using computers, how they are using them, for what purposes and what problems they are encountering, as of September 1, 1987. These results indicate that computers are already being used by the majority of qualitative researchers, for a wide variety of purposes and these researchers are generally pleased with its results. The most common use is data base management. Most computer users indicated that computers had not affected their choice of topic. Qualitative researchers who report using computers generally believe that computers have been beneficial in improving the speed, quality and ease of their work.
