- Abstract
This is a descriptive study that examines the hopelessness levels of undergraduates of the Music department, Ankara State Conservatoire, Hacettepe University. The environment of the study is the conservatoires present in Turkey and the target population of the study consists of Hacettepe University undergraduates of the Music department. From this target population, 71 students were randomly chosen as samples in order to determine the students' hopelessness levels by carrying out a 20-question Beck hopelessness scale. According to the statistics of the lower dimensions of feelings and expectations about the future, loss of motivation, and hope, students range at the highest level in the hope lower dimension and at the lowest level in feelings and expectations about the future lower dimension. When the high schools the undergraduates graduated from were compared, a meaningful difference was observed between graduates of conservatoire high schools and regular high schools in relation to their feelings and expectations about the future. In this sense, the average level of conservatoire high school graduates is meaningfully lower than graduates of fine arts high school, regular high school, and vocational high school
