- Abstract
The aim of this research is to develop a measurement tool to measure the attitudes of third grade primary school students towards the life science lesson. The form created to determine the validity and reliability of the developed scale was applied to 494 third grade students. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were performed to determine the construct validity. As a result of the exploratory analysis, it was determined that the scale consisted of 11 items and 2 sub-dimensions. These dimensions were named as "positive attitude" and "negative attitude" statements. However, it was determined that the scale explained 46,572% of the total variance. When the scale was evaluated in terms of reliability; while the Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient for the whole scale was .811, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the item scores of the high-low-27-percent groups.In addition, confirmatory factor analysis was also performed regarding the validity of the scale, and as a result of the analysis, the 2-factor structure was confirmed. As a result of the findings, it was revealed that the scale measures the attitudes of the third grade students towards the life science lesson in a valid and reliable way.
