- Abstract
The article describes the relative prevalence of Brachyspira hyodysenteriae and Brachyspira pilosicoli on pigs with clinical signs of diarrhea from commercial pig farms in Spain. The study showed that the limited administration of antimicrobial agents that are used to promote growth and feeding efficiency have led to the emergence of spirochaetal colitis. The study revealed that swine dysentery is a primary cause of diarrheal disease among pigs of all ages.
