- Abstract
The article presents a study that evaluates the predictive and diagnostic value of calcitonin and procalcitonin in medullary thyroid cancer (MTC). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) was applied for analyzing the value of calcitonin and procalcitonin in identifying and detecting MTC and predicting disease progression, as well as progression-free survival. Result shows the higher diagnostic accuracy of calcitonin and a predictive value of the procalcitonin:calcitonin ratio in MTC.
