- Abstract
The article focuses on research regarding the anti-tumor activity of 3-bromopyruvate, which was found to be associated to sodium-coupled monocarboxylate transporter SMCT1 (SLC5A8) with subsequent inhibition of histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) and HDAC3. It is stated that 3-bromopyruvate was transported into cancer cells actively through the suppressor SLC5A8 and an electrochemical sodium gradient energized the process.
