- Abstract
Melanin from Hypoxylon sp. was extracted and purified, and its production got to 33.01%. Analyzed by UV/ visible spectrum and IR spectrum, the melanin from Hypoxylon sp. almost exhibited the same essential chemical structure as synthetic melanin. The antioxidant activity of melanin from Hypoxylon sp. was compared with synthetic melanin and vitamin C by detecting the inhibition of the oxidation of 5-thio-2-nitroben-zonic acid (TNB), and the data showed that antioxidant activity of melanin from Hypoxylon sp. was higher than that of vitamin C, but a little lower than that of synthetic melanin.
