- Abstract
This article discusses a case of a child who experienced a significant complication after hydrogen peroxide was administered to a penetrating facial injury. The child developed massive subcutaneous emphysema, pneumomediastinum, and pneumo-orbit, which required immediate medical intervention. The article highlights the potential risks associated with using hydrogen peroxide in wounds and emphasizes the importance of avoiding its use in penetrating injuries. It also provides recommendations for the management of subcutaneous emphysema after hydrogen peroxide irrigation.
