The article discusses Three Decades of Collaboration in Critical Care Research. Topics include Collaborative research networks are characterized by a goal-oriented approach; a high level of commitment; and willingness to share information, resources, and accountabilities; and regional collaborative networks, including the study of syndromes, geographic dispersion, low population densities, minimal commercial interest, and regional health policies that have promoted scientific excellence.
