- Abstract
The article explores the provisions of the Colombian Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) and Free Trade Agreements (FTA) to evaluate the protections rendered by these tools to foreign investors and their effect on risk mitigation from a perspective of financial project. It informs that risk is defined as uncertainty in context to cost and damage. It discusses how BITSs mitigate political risks and exemplifies certain successful investments accomplished under the Columbian BITs.
