- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of films as teaching aids in science classes. Films and its various shapes like slow motion, fast motion, time lapse, and microscopic photography help the science teachers to present the concepts about eruption of a volcano and complex surgical operation in effective manner. Likewise, laboratory experiments too can be displayed on screen so that every student in the class could see the micro details of the experiment. Varney C. Arnspiger, the author of "Measuring the Effectiveness of Sound Pictures as Teaching Aids," points out that talking pictures have significant and effective contributions to learning in natural science. The scientific films produced by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Bureau of Mines have been used in the teaching of science. The International Congress of Educational and Instructional Cinematography, held in Rome in April 19-25, 1934, also recognized the importance of science films.
