- Authors
Sitze, Adam
- Abstract
The article discusses capital punishment and right to life in the philosophical contexts of law, biopolitics, and literary narrative. The discussion on death penalty abolitionism refers to philosophers and authors including Franz Kafka and his short story "In the Penal Colony." The death penalty is discussed as a theme theme in the books "Anarchy, State, and Utopia," by Robert Nozick, "Metaphysics of Morals," by Immanuel Kant, and "Dei delitti e delle pene," or "On crimes and punishments," by Cesare Beccaria. The differences between Nozick's and John Locke's concepts of the rights of property in the person are noted. The writings of philosophers Thomas Hobbes and Norberto Bobbio are mentioned.
