- Abstract
This article reports that the state government of Maharashtra has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Reiter Group from Switzerland to establish an Indian Rupee (Rs.) 250-crore plant to manaufacture cotton spinning machinery near Pune. The state has a long tradition of weaving textiles and the craft of weaving Paithani saris is a 2,000-year-old tradition. Reiter is said to be mindful of the local needs and wants to contribute in ensuring a better future for the textile industry in India.
