- Abstract
The article presents quotations from writings of physicians as unconsciously hilarious. According to the author, practicing lexicographers and linguists must too be guardians of the language, even if only in a descriptive-permissive way. Absolute permissivists could not write creative dictionaries, they would be too careless or they couldn't care less about lexicography and linguistics. They would take polls on words from all sorts of sources. enter into computers what they guess are their meanings, and then compile them, like election results or laundry lists, as the computers spew them out.
