Motivações para a perda de peso em adolescentes com sobrepeso e obesidade: uma revisão sistemática.

- Abstract
INTRODUÇÃO Adolescentes com sobrepeso e obesidade relatam várias motivações para a perda de peso além do desejo de uma melhor saúde. No entanto, há poucas evidências sobre as principais motivações para a perda de peso em adolescentes. Neste sentido, o objetivo da presente revisão sistemática é identificar as motivações para a perda de peso em adolescentes com sobrepeso e obesidade. MÉTODOS Trata-se de revisão sistemática redigida segundo as recomendações do Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes (PRISMA). O protocolo foi registrado no PROSPERO sob o número CRD42017056528. Foram considerados elegíveis os estudos observacionais publicados até dezembro de 2016 nos idiomas português, inglês e/ou espanhol, que tenham incluído adolescentes na faixa etária de 10 a 20 anos. Artigos de revisão foram excluídos. A busca virtual foi realizada nas bases de dados PubMed, Scopus, LILACS e ADOLEC. Os termos utilizados na busca foram: motivation, motive, reason, “weight loss,” “lose weight,” and adolescent. A avaliação da qualidade metodológica dos estudos foi realizada por dois pesquisadores utilizando o checklist da Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Methodology para estudos transversais/de prevalência. RESULTADOS Seis estudos (todos transversais) atenderam aos critérios de seleção e foram incluídos na revisão. Dois estudos foram conduzidos nos Estados Unidos da América, um na Tailândia, um no Brasil, um no reino Unido e um na Suécia. Cinco estudos apresentaram qualidade metodológica moderada e um foi classificado como tendo qualidade elevada. O n amostral entre os estudos variou de 12 a 167. Os instrumentos utilizados para avaliar as motivações dos participantes para a perda de peso foram entrevistas e questionários com perguntas abertas. Foram identificadas 17 motivações para a perda de peso, sendo a mais frequente melhorar a saúde, registrada em quatro estudos. As razões estéticas/cosméticas, melhorias na autoestima e prevenção de provocações/bullying foram referidas, cada uma, em três estudos. Ser mais saudável, estar em melhor forma, ter aceitação pelos pares e/ou maior integração social, e conseguir vestir roupas "tamanho normal"/“mais elegantes” foram motivações registradas em dois estudos cada.
